LCC
National Specialty in Mississauga CLICK HERE for photos of the show Eleven exhibitors either brought or sent 26 Lowchen to the Lowchen Club of Canada's 5th Annual National Specialty. This was the third time we have held our Specialty show in conjunction with the Caledon Kennel Association shows at the International Centre in Mississauga ON just a few minutes from the Toronto Pearson airport. We had a display of 7 Specials and 19 Class dogs, many of which were puppies! PUPPY SWEEPSTAKES: The day began with 14 entries in the Puppy Sweepstakes - virtually every exhibitor entered a puppy in the Sweeps! This was most fortunate as Kim and Alicia Schmidt had put together great 'loot' bags for the puppy exhibitors and no one was left out! Our thanks go to the Schmidts, Jaws and Paws, and Contempora Construction all of Medicine Hat AB for donating the goodies to the LCC. Mrs. Kevin Grew of Ontario did an admirable job judging our youngsters. She selected BEST PUPPY: Ivytree Bihar Trueblue, an American male out of the 12-18 month old class owned by Carol Strong and Carolyn Marzano. Mrs. Grew judged BEST OF OPPOSITE IN SWEEPS: a Canadian, Ch Donalen Chere Coquaine, also out of the 12-18 month class, owned and bred by Donna Cullen. NATIONAL SPECIALTY: The National
Specialty Show followed immediately after the Sweeps and was
judged by Mr. Michael Quinney, an all-breed judge from the U.K.
Mr Quinney's selections had a distinct international flavor.
Best Puppy in the Specialty show went to a young Australian import female, Jonquilow Maid in OZ (Jonquilow Mozart's Pride x Jonquilow Olympic Gold) bred by Mrs. P. Jones and Mrs. K. Quigley, owned by Lenore Gish. It was
a thrill for us all to see 16 year old Ch Duncara Unsung
By Moonlight of Boughton taking her dues as a Veteran
bitch. All in all, it was a fine display of Canadian, American and international Lowchen. It was such fun to see all the folks who attended the Canadian National Specialty. Of note, the LCC National Specialty will be held in the west next year - in the summer in Calgary in conjunction with the Calgary Stampede a great holiday get away!
